Six Ways to Slow Down for a Mindful Long Weekend

Eid Mubarak from all of us at Serenity! Another long weekend is upon us. Mindfulness will help you savor your time off. Whether you’re spending time with loved ones, traveling, or catching up on errands, slow down. Here are a few ways we like to slow down to mindfully make the most of a long weekend.

 

Wake up slow. Turn off your 6am alarms and wake up with your body’s natural rhythm. Instead of jumping out of bed straight away, take your time and relish your lie in. Read in bed with a cup of coffee for a while. Take your time and start your day at a leisurely pace.

 

 

 

 

 

Set your intention. Long weekends are a great opportunity to set intentions for the coming weeks. They give you the time and  space to consider what you want to get out of the near future. Set an intention to relax, recharge and reinvigorate over the long weekend.

 

 

 

 

Cook from scratch.It can be very tempting to head out for lunch or dinner over a long weekend. Instead, take a few hours to try out that recipe you’ve been eyeing but have been to busy to attempt. Take your time shopping for fresh ingredients. Measure, sift and scoop with mindful awareness. Take the time to inject some love into your cooking. Reap the nutritional benefits and enjoyment from a healthful home cooked meal.

 

 

 

Unplug to unwind. Give social media and the internet a rest! Your mind needs a break from the constant popping up of notifications. Instead, you could catch up on your reading. Try your hand at a new craft or hobby. Or, spend some time engaging with and being present when hanging out with your loved ones.

 

 

 

 

 

Treat yourself to a home spa day. Carve  out a few hours to indulge and treat yourself. Run a warm bubble bath. Try out a new face mask. Pamper yourself to a manicure and pedicure while you watch your favorite movie. This time is yours! Use it to treat yourself right.

 

 

 

 

 

Move mindfully. Take some time for a physical activity that you love! Swimming, yoga, boxing, whatever! Immerse yourself in movement and listen to your body while it’s in motion. Then, relax and enjoy that endorphin rush!
